Egypt: Government Supports Initiative to Replace Foreign Aid - AllAfrica.com

The Egyptian government supports an initiative launched by the civil society to replace foreign aid, said Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri.

Financial donations have already started flowing to support the Egyptian economy, said Planning and International Cooperation Minister Fayza Abul-Naga.

Abul-Naga also denied reports that Head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi issued orders not give statements on the NGOs foreign funding case.

Azhar Sheikh supports any initiative to achieve stability in Egypt

Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayyeb underlined his support for any national initiative aiming at achieving security, stability and progress of Egypt.

During his meeting with Salafist preacher Mohamed Hassan Thursday, Tayyeb voiced support to the Egyptian Aid Initiative launched by Hassan. Tayyeb underlined the participation of Al-Azhar institution, its staff and scholars in the initiative to achieve a better future for Egypt.

Tayyeb also asserted that the Egyptian people are capable of confronting any ordeals and standing united for the sake of the country.

For his part, Hassan said that he will discuss with several officials, including the prime minister, details for carrying out his initiative to provide the financial resources that Egypt needs.
